I specialize in using somatic therapy (including Somatic Experiencing and Inner Relationship Focusing) to treat trauma, as well as a range of mental health issues. I have found it to be an extremely effective method for helping my clients process the effects of trauma and stress, which can manifest in many ways. Somatic Experiencing helps clients feel less stuck and to break out of patterns that regular talk therapy may not have helped them with. Clients who choose to engage in mindfulness practice outside of sessions will find this a powerful asset to the pursuit of insight and change in our sessions.

General Approach

I have found that integrating mindfulness, cognitive behavioral, and somatic awareness therapies leads to insight and healing.  Many individuals seek psychotherapy because they feel out of balance in one or more aspects of their lives. When people struggle with depression or anxiety, they may fall in to negative habits and patterns with their emotions, thinking and actions.  I provide a structure within which my clients continually clarify their goals and expectations for change.  This structure helps to keep therapy focused and reflective, and helps clients move toward a more balanced experience within their bodies and with life.
